As 2025 approaches, Lithic Luci is excited to share ambitious plans and celebrate the successes of 2024. This past year, Lithic Luci featured in two remarkable events that brought together people of all ages and backgrounds, introducing them to the ancient art of flint knapping
In the fall of 2024, on October 4th, a memorable family campout was held at the Joint Reserve Naval Base in Fort Worth, set against the serene lakeside. This event welcomed all branches of the military, including reserved, active, or retired members. With 75 to 100 participants, Lithic Luci's segment was undoubtedly the highlight, allowing attendees to immerse themselves in nature while learning ancestral skills. The event was a testament to the power of community and the joy of discovering history through hands-on experiences
On November 9th, Lithic Luci played a significant role in the 20th Annual Archaeological Fair in Plano. This event was a resounding success, attracting 400 to 500 attendees passionate about history and craftsmanship. Participants of all ages engaged in interactive workshops, walked away with self-made creations, and gained a deeper appreciation for the precision and skill required in flint knapping. The highlight for many was witnessing Boy Scouts earn badges by learning this ancient craft for the first time, a proud moment for both the scouts and their families
The importance of flint knapping, humanity's first technology, cannot be overstated. This skill was crucial to human evolution. The tools crafted through flint knapping allowed early humans to manipulate materials such as wood, enabling the construction of shelters and the creation of arrowheads and spearpoints to hunt animals, thus ensuring human survival and evolution. These innovations were critical lifelines to survival, fundamentally shaping human development and adaptation
Looking ahead to 2025, Lithic Luci is committed to expanding reach and impact. The vision is to host more events that celebrate cultural heritage and foster a love for history and craftsmanship. Lithic Luci aims to partner with cultural conservators and esteemed institutions to develop an accredited curriculum that transcends traditional learning. This multidisciplinary workshop will encompass archaeology, geometry, science, math, art, history, physics, and geochemistry, providing students with a holistic understanding of flint knapping and its significance
Additionally, Lithic Luci is eager to establish an online presence and store through Lithicluci.shop, making it easier for enthusiasts and learners to access resources, tools, and products related to flint knapping. This platform will serve as a hub for knowledge sharing and community building, reaching a broader audience
